Description
Volterra has a rich and varied culture. It was once one of the 12 Etruscan power cities and today its medieval centre remains one of the best preserved in Italy.
Here you will be immerse yourself in varying architecture ranging from Etruscan, to Roman, to Baroque, to Romanesque, and so forth.
We recommend you stay around 2,5 hours giving you plenty of time to visit another Tuscan gem, San Gimignano. We will pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in Tuscany. Feast your eyes on our classic rolling hills, vineyards and green olive groves.
Once in San Gimignano you will have plenty of time to stroll through the medieval city’s cobbled streets along which arise Romanesque and Gothic buildings.
Many have named San Gimignano the “Medieval Manhattan” due to its world famous watchtowers. Though people come mainly for the stone skyscrapers, many will remember their visit here for the outstanding award-winning gelato. Indeed, the Gelateria Dondoli – two time Gelato World Champion, will boggle your mind. You may also wish to visit the Palazzo Comunale, Collegiate Church and Rocca di Montestaffoli.
